About Thompson Institute

Thompson Institute has been providing comprehensive vocational training since 1918. We are committed to helping you prepare for the career you want and the life you deserve. From the moment you enroll until it's time to start the job search, we support you every step of the way.

Our Roots Are Strong

Thompson Institute was founded in 1918 as Beckley College, a business school offering vocational training to students in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Although the name and ownership of the school has changed over the years, our focus on quality education remains strong. In October 1982, Thompson Institute opened a branch campus in Philadelphia, offering many of the same programs as the Harrisburg campus. Nearly 25 years later, Thompson Institute continues to offer outstanding career education in Philadelphia.

Thompson Institute was acquired by Quest Education Corporation, a subsidiary of Kaplan, Inc., in 2002. Later that year, Quest changed its name to Kaplan Higher Education Corporation.
